3-Minute Creamy Onion Dip

Appetizer, Condiment, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Quick and Easy 4 comments

This onion dip literally only takes a few minutes to throw together and it is DELICIOUS. It pairs well with just about anything! My husband would always throw this together for us to dip chips into so I figured it’s about time to post the recipe. Plus, I used the dip on my Smashed Potatoes recipe that you can find in this post. It’s a perfect appetizer and goes VERY well with the onion dip.

What to eat with Creamy Onion Dip

Smashed Potatoes

Sliced veggies such as carrots, bell pepper, cucumber, and more.

Chips

Crackers

Nourish bowls

Chicken

Tacos

Wraps

…and so much more!

Ingredients

Sour cream or plain yogurt – You can use either one depending on what you have on hand or what you prefer. Obviously be sure to use a plain yogurt if using yogurt.

Onion powder, garlic powder, salt – to season it.

Method

It’s very simple! All you do is mix together all of the ingredients in a small bowl. If you want it thinner, then feel free to add a touch of water. I personally like it thick, unless I’m using it to drizzle on top of these Crispy Smashed Potatoes.

Modifications

The recipe is already super simple, but you can still modify it to some extent:

  • Like I already mentioned, you can use either sour cream or a plain yogurt, depending on what you prefer. Yogurt is great for adding protein, but sour cream makes it more rich.
  • You can adjust the spices to preference – I sometimes add a bit more onion powder for a stronger flavor. Adjust the seasonings according to your presence, especially the salt.
  • To make the dip thinner, just add a couple tablespoons of water or more to preference. Since it’s watered down, you may want to add a couple extra sprinkles of the spices and salt.
