Frozen banana
Canned coconut milk – not from a carton. The canned version has more fat in it, which helps make this smoothie creamy and lower glycemic.
Pure maple syrup – for a natural sweetness
Collagen – for protein
Method
Blend all ingredients together. Adjust milk and/or add ice to preference.
You can adjust the cacao to your preference for how chocolatey you want the smoothie. You can also adjust the maple syrup (or honey) to sweeten it to your preference. I add protein powder or collagen for a boost of protein and to thicken the smoothie a little!
Modifications
- Add nut butter for more flavor and creaminess.
- Add hemp seeds, chia seeds, or ground flaxseeds for healthy fats and omega-3’s
- Incorporate superfoods such as maca root, ashwagandha, slippery elm bark, and more.
