If you thought pumpkin spice lattes couldn’t get any cozier, this Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Latte will change your mind! Made with a double shot of espresso, creamy steamed milk, and a swirl of my homemade Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Syrup, it’s rich, nutty, and perfectly spiced. Every sip has that warm, caramelized flavor from the browned butter balanced with real pumpkin and autumn spices. Best of all, it comes together in just minutes, so you can skip the coffee shop and enjoy a barista-worthy latte right at home!

Nutritional benefits of this recipe

  • Purity Coffee is mold-free, mycotoxin-free, and free of pesticides and other contaminants. It’s my favorite healthy coffee brand at the moment!
  • Grass-Fed Milk – A great source of protein, calcium, and healthy fats. Grass-fed also contains more omega-3s and vitamin K2 compared to conventional milk.
  • I used coconut sugar as the sweetener which is natural, lower glycemic, and unrefined. Coconut sugar is the dehydrated sap of the coconut palm and has a “golden” taste to it, much like brown sugar.
  • Grass-fed butter is the best way to eat butter! Butter from grass-fed cows gives you a much purer, nutrient-dense product. The cows live a more natural, healthy lifestyle and therefore their milk products are going to be more nutrient dense and healthier. I’m all for sustainable and regenerative farming, and using grass-fed dairy is a great way to do that. Grass-fed butter is a superfood in my book!
  • Pumpkin pie spice has many nutrients from the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, etc. It helps keep blood sugar balanced, is rich in antioxidants, and not to mention delicious!

Ingredients for a Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Latte

Espresso – I love using Purity Coffee because it’s mold-free, mycotoxin-free, and free of pesticides and other contaminants. I use the De’Longhi espresso machine, but I definitely look forward to buying a Breville soon to take this latte to another level!

Milk – I love using whole, grass-fed milk for my lattes. It makes it rich and creamy and grass-fed milk a great source of protein, healthy fats, healthy carbohydrates, and calcium.

Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Syrup – I homemade this syrup and you can follow the recipe for it here. It’s such a delicious syrup that goes so well in hot lattes! It uses water, coconut sugar, grass-fed butter (and you’ll brown it in a pan for a toasty, caramelized flavor), pumpkin pie spice, pumpkin puree, salt, and vanilla extract. It makes a big jar of syrup that’ll last you many lattes!

How to make a Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Latte

  1. Put the Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Syrup into a coffee mug and pour the hot double shot of espresso over top. Mix with a milk frother or spoon to combine, then pour the steamed milk over top. Enjoy!
  2. If the syrup isn’t sweet enough for you (it’s definitely not as sweet as coffee shops!), then you can add a dash of pure maple syrup to the latte as well. This really just depends on preference and how much of each ingredient you’re using.

Modifications and variations

  • Feel free to add a small dash of pure maple syrup for a little more sweetness and warm flavor if desired.
  • Add some homemade whipped cream on top: Using a milk frother, froth 2 Tbsp of heavy cream with 1/2 tsp of pure maple syrup for about 15-20 seconds until creamy. Pour on top of the latte and enjoy!
