The perfect summer evening includes these Cheeseburger Bowls and then a bowl of freshly sliced watermelon as dessert. You really can’t get better than that! These bowls are nourishing, delicious, and incredibly easy to make. They come together in about 20 minutes, making it the perfect meal for busy nights!
Nutritional benefits of this recipe:
- Grass-fed ground beef is rich in protein, healthy fats, and iron.
- The fresh veggies are rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
- For the sauce: I opt for healthy mayonnaise and healthy ketchup. The mayonnaise is made using avocado oil instead of seed oils and the ketchup uses only real ingredients. I use the brand Primal Kitchen. I also love Chosen Foods as well.
Ingredients for Cheeseburger Bowls
Ground beef – I recommend opting for grass-fed for the healthiest option. Plus, it’s more delicious too!
Seasonings – Between the burger meat and the sauce, we’ll be using salt, ground paprika, granulated onion, granulated garlic, fresh or dried dill, and black pepper
Mayonnaise – For the sauce. I recommend using a healthy brand like Primal Kitchen or Chosen Foods
Dijon mustard – For the sauce. You can also use yellow mustard or stone ground mustard.
Ketchup – For the sauce. I recommend using a healthy brand like Primal Kitchen
Fresh diced veggies – Romaine lettuce, tomato, dill pickles, onion, and whatever other veggies you want!
Shredded cheese – Omit if dairy-free.
How to make Cheeseburger Bowls
- Make the sauce by mixing together the ingredients in a small bowl.
- Dice up the veggies.
- Heat a cast iron skillet to medium heat. Add the ground beef to the skillet and break it up into pieces. Add the seasonings and cook the meat until it is no longer pink.
- To serve: Place the lettuce at the bottom of shallow bowls. Add the tomatoes, onion, pickles, cooked ground beef, and shredded cheese. Pour the sauce over top.
- Enjoy! Please leave a comment and rating if you try this recipe.
Make the Cheeseburger Bowls your own
- Add diced jalapeno for extra flavor and a spicy kick.
- Make it dairy-free simply by omitting the cheese.
- Use yellow mustard or stone ground mustard in place of the Dijon for a sweeter flavor. I personally love the complex flavor that Dijon mustard adds.
- Add crumbled bacon to the bowls for an extra savory and fun flavor.
