Easy Burger Sauce

Condiment, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free 2 comments

Looking for a go-to healthy sauce for burger night? This Easy Burger Sauce will be your favorite! It’s easy to throw together, uses healthy ingredients, and tastes like the real deal. I made it for this Cheeseburger Bowl recipe, but you can also use it for regular burgers, hotdogs, or even fries.

Nutritional benefits of this recipe

  • We’re using healthy mayo here – it should be made with avocado oil or olive oil and contain no seed oils (canola, soybean, etc). Be sure to read the label! I recommend either Primal Kitchen or Chosen Foods. Primal Kitchen is personally my favorite.
  • There’s no high fructose corn syrup in this recipe because we’ll use a healthy ketchup – either naturally sweetened or unsweetened, whichever you prefer. Primal Kitchen has several to choose from, and they’re all delicious. You can also buy a ketchup that’s organic and sweetened with cane sugar – it’s significantly better than those with high fructose corn syrup.

Ingredients in Burger Sauce

Mayonnaise – Use one that’s made with avocado oil rather than seed oils. Primal Kitchen is my favorite, but Chosen Foods also has a great one.

Ketchup – Avoid corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup here! Opt for one that is naturally sweetened or unsweetened. For a budget friendly option, get one that is organic and sweetened with cane sugar. For the best option, Primal Kitchen has one that is sweetened with honey.

Dijon mustard – Or other mustard of choice

Dill pickle juice – To thin the sauce and add another layer of flavor.

Spices – Fresh or dried dill (optional), granulated garlic, and ground paprika

Hot sauce for spice – This is optional. Yellow Bird has healthy and delicious options.

Modifications

  • Add finely diced jalapeno for an extra spicy kick.
  • Sub yellow mustard or stone ground mustard in place of dijon. The dijon mustard has a more complex flavor than the other two, but if it’s not your favorite, then simply replace it with what you prefer! You won’t actually taste the mustard in this recipe, but it just adds a little depth.
  • Add smoked paprika for a smoky flavor.
  • Add granulated onion.
