A Healthy Lavender Latte recipe that uses real dried lavender leaves and pure maple syrup instead of artificial simple syrups. And it’s coffee shop worthy!

Ingredients

Scale

Coffee beans for a double shot of espresso - I love Purity Coffee and Seven Weeks Coffee!

1/2 tsp dried lavender leaves

1 Tbsp pure maple syrup (21g), to taste (or 2 tsp for more mild sweetness)

6 oz grass-fed milk, to preference

Instructions

  1. Grind up the dried lavender leaves with the coffee beans to make a double shot of espresso.
  2. Brew the lavender-infused double shot of espresso and pour into a coffee mug.
  3. Put the milk and maple syrup into a cup and steam it. This is my preferred method because it incorporates the syrup throughout the milk, but you can also just stir the syrup into the espresso if you like to steam the milk by itself.
  4. Pour into the coffee mug and enjoy!

Modifications and variations:

  • Adjust the sweetener to preference. This latte is “coffee shop sweet” but not cloying; but generally on a day-to-day basis I personally use 2 teaspoons of sweetener. I call for 1 Tbsp to be more of the coffee shop flavor that I know most people love, but adjust to taste!
  • Adjust the lavender to taste. I find 1/2 tsp to be the perfect amount for my preference and is what I think most people would enjoy. My husband actually sometimes opts for closer to 3/4 tsp, but he’s obsessed with lavender so he likes it a bit stronger than most people. If you only like a tiny hint of lavender, then you can reduce it to 1/4 tsp for a mild flavor. Also, some brands of dried lavender may be stronger than others, so that can play a role in the flavor as well.
  • If you like a milk-heavy latte, then use the traditional 8 oz of milk instead of 6.
  • Substitute honey in place of maple syrup for a honey lavender latte.
