For all the spicy food lovers out there – This Creamy Buffalo Chicken Pasta has just a few simple ingredients but it has TONS of flavor. It is a great meal for when you’re in need of going to the grocery store because it has just a few simple ingredients that can be easy to keep on hand. And of course, if you have veggies on hand / would like to add some veggies to this dish, then feel free to! Broccoli, bell pepper, onion, etc. would be so delicious mixed into this pasta.
Nutritional benefits of this recipe
- The buffalo sauce I use for this recipe is so healthy and delicious. It’s made using pumpkin, avocado oil, healthy spices, etc. It’s made by Primal Kitchen and can also be found in stores.
- Chicken – Rich in tryptophan, which promotes serotonin. Also rich zinc, selenium, iron, and b-vitamins. Eating protein helps regulate cravings, hunger, blood sugar, weight, and energy.
Ingredients for Creamy Buffalo Chicken Pasta
Pasta – I recommend using a healthy pasta that’s organic and non-GMO. Going for one that’s imported from Italy is usually a good option.
Primal Kitchen Buffalo Sauce – I have not tried this recipe with any other buffalo sauce. I love this one because it’s healthy – made with avocado oil in instead of refined oils, no refined sugar, and has natural spices without any added “flavor” on the ingredient list.
Cream cheese – I also think cottage cheese or sour cream would be delicious here, although I haven’t tried them yet. If using cottage cheese, then be sure to blend it well in a food processor to make it creamy – a hand mixer may not blend it well enough compared to a food processor.
Cooked chicken – I’m leaving this up to you! Cook the chicken however you prefer, whether it’s grilling it, roasting it in the oven, cooking it in a skillet, etc. I seasoned mine with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and italian seasoning. Season however you want.
To garnish: sliced green onion, shredded parmesan cheese or crumbled feta.

How to make Creamy Buffalo Chicken Pasta
- Bring a large pot with water and some salt to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until tender. This will depend on the pasta you use, so read the instructions. Once done, strain the water from the pot but do not rinse the pasta! Leaving a layer of the pasta water on the noodles helps make the sauce stick to the noodles because of the starch.
- In a large bowl using an electric mixer, blend together the cream cheese and buffalo sauce until smooth and creamy.
- Stir together the cooked pasta with the sauce until combined.
- To serve: Add the buffalo pasta to a bowl, top with cooked chicken, sliced green onion, and parmesan cheese.

Modifications
- Add veggies to the pasta: whether they’re steamed, grilled, sautéed, or roasted. Broccoli, bell pepper, spinach, onion, etc. would all be delicious.
- Sub cottage cheese in place of the cream cheese for a higher protein option. If doing this, then blend it in a food processor because it’ll be easier / faster than using a mixer.
- Use sour cream instead of cream cheese for a more savory flavor. It’ll be less creamy as well, but still delicious!
- To make it dairy-free: I have actually made this pasta using ONLY the buffalo sauce without any dairy and it’s still delicious! It’s just a thin coating of sauce (not creamy at all), but it’s still very flavorful. It’s actually much spicier if using only the sauce too. But another idea I have to make it dairy free and still creamy is to blend the buffalo sauce in a food processor with cashews to make a creamy cashew buffalo sauce. You’ll also want to add some salt to it as well. I haven’t tested this out so I’m not sure what the ratios would be but I would start with 1/2 cup of cashews and go from there.
