The Best Health Food Restaurants in Dallas

I snapped this picture when my husband and I ate at Flower Child in Dallas. Their restaurant is always so full of beautiful, live plants that make the space so cozy!

Dallas, Texas is home to many restaurants that offer nutritious, wholesome meals made with whole, unprocessed (or at least minimally processed) foods. I am going to list some of the healthiest restaurants in the area that offer nutrient-dense meals. I also wanted to feature specific restaurants that avoid vegetable oils, canola oil, soybean oil, etc.

My husband and I went on a date in Dallas recently and it inspired me to write a post about healthy restaurants in the area! We went to Flower Child because it’s actually one of our favorite restaurants. They have so many delicious options that are nutrient-dense and healthy. We then went to Merit (a coffee shop) in Deep Ellum, and it was amazing – they use Milk-King milk (grass-fed cow milk) for their beverages and also have other plant-based milk options.

Here are some of the best healthy food restaurants in the DFW area:

Flower Child

This is the restaurant my husband and I went to and where the photos in this post are from! This is a fast-casual restaurant that serves up healthy, flavorful food. Their menu includes a variety of salads, bowls, and wraps made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. They also have an option to customize dishes with various add-ins. They primarily use avocado oil and olive oil for cooking, however I would be sure to double check for the dish you are ordering.

Origin Kitchen + Bar

A restaurant that offers seasonal, farm-to-table meals made with fresh ingredients. Their menu includes dishes made with grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, and locally sourced produce. They also offer Whole 30 and Paleo options and can make modifications to almost every dish to accommodate any special dietary requests. All of their dressings are gluten-free and dairy-free. Origin Kitchen + Bar primarily uses olive oil and avocado oil. They also use coconut oil and ghee (clarified butter) in some of their dishes.

Unrefined Bakery

They are a bakery and cafe that specialize in gluten-free and allergen-friendly baked goods. They use coconut oil and avocado oil in their cooking and do not use any vegetable oil, canola oil, safflower oil, shortening, etc.

True Food Kitchen

True Food Kitchen offers a menu that is based on the principles of Dr. Andrew Weil’s anti-inflammatory diet and their menu features dishes made with organic, seasonal ingredients. I’ve had several dishes from there and I can confirm it’s all delicious and healthy! They also have an extensive beverage menu that includes fresh juices and wellness shots. True Food Kitchen does use canola oil in some of their dishes, but they also offer a variety of healthier oil options such as olive oil, avocado oil, and coconut oil, so be sure to ask your waiter about it.

HG Sply Co.

They focus on serving clean, whole foods. All of the food I’ve tried there is absolutely delicious and the staff is amazing! Their menu features dishes made with grass-fed meats, fresh vegetables, and sustainably sourced seafood. They also offer a wide variety of options for those with dietary restrictions. They primarily use avocado oil for cooking, in addition to olive oil and coconut oil.

Freshii

Freshii is another great option for healthy food in the DFW area. I’ve had their bowls and wraps as well as their chia pudding and it’s all incredible. It’s an easy grab and go restaurant if you’re more in a rush. They offer a variety of nutrient-dense options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including salads, wraps, bowls, and smoothies. Freshii’s menu is designed to be customizable, so you can choose your own ingredients and create a meal that fits your dietary preferences. If you want to avoid canola oil and added sugar, then ask for extra virgin olive oil with balsamic vinegar or lemon wedges rather than the prepared salad dressings.

Kozy Kitchen

This is a restaurant that offers a variety of healthy options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their menu features dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. They also offer a selection of smoothies and fresh juices. I am not sure what kind of oil they use.

True Burger Co.

They serve grass-fed beef burger options as well as 100% antibiotic & hormone free black angus beef, bison, veggie burgers, turkey, salmon and ahi tuna. They also offer a variety of salads and sides made with fresh ingredients. However, I believe they use vegetable oils.

These are just a few of the many healthy food options available in the DFW area. Whether you’re looking for clean, whole foods or a specific dietary preference, these restaurants offer something for everyone.

Our dinner from Flower Child: My husband ordered the Chicken Enchilada Bowl and I ordered the Mother Earth Bowl with chicken added on top.
