Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas

Would you like to give Christmas gifts where the wrapping can be used as a gift as well? What do I mean by that, you may ask? Well, here’s what I mean: You can use dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, bells, etc. to use as decor on the Christmas gift – and these cute little decorations double as Christmas tree ornaments! So instead of always grabbing a bow (still super cute though!!), you can switch it up here and there to add a little special touch. Plus, attaching dried orange slices that you made yourself is a creative way to add a personal touch to the gift you are giving.

Reusable decorations:

Here are ideas for decorations that can be used as ornaments by the person you gave the gift to:

Dried orange slices – See this post to learn how to homemake them! Be sure to let the gift-receiver know that they can use the orange slice as an ornament. Simply use these ornament hangers or simply use a piece of twine.

Cinnamon sticks – I love both long and short cinnamon sticks, depending on what I’m using it for. Use these ornament hangers to turn the cinnamon sticks into ornaments.

Brass bells – Another great addition to make the present look adorable but also double as an extra ornament.

Mini stockings ornaments – Tie this in with the bow on the front of the gift and they can reuse it as an ornament.

Candy canes – An edible decoration! (keep it in the wrapper). It’s also great to use as an ornament as well.

Gingerbread men – whether you use fake ones like these, or you package up homemade gingerbread men in clear plastic and tie it to the present (they can either eat it if it’s freshly made or they can dry it out to use as an ornament – my family did this growing up!)

Pine cones – use on the gift and again as an ornament.

Antler ornaments – This would be great for the rustic men in your family.

Winter Berries – I love these for gift wrapping, and I also love sticking them into the stems of my Christmas tree to add some color!

Essentials that I love:

Name tag cards – I love these because they are neutral, therefore going with any color of wrapping paper, box, etc.

Greenery – Before you throw out an old wreath to replace it with a new one, be sure to salvage parts of the wreath for gift wrapping! Attach a sprig of greenery and you’re all set. You can use just about any type of greenery for gift wrapping, but these are the ones in the photo. I also love the idea of using real pine, as long as nobody is allergic to it. Also, you can use any greenery/flower that’s in season such as fern, eucalyptus, tulips, poinsettia, etc.

Twine for wrapping – this will come in handy to tie everything together. Check out this DIY Christmas candle gift to see how I used twine to tie a dried orange slice and cinnamon stick to a candle!

Finding unique wrapping paper – I officially will be on the hunt to find more unique wrapping paper because it’s fun to switch it up from the usual. I even love simple brown kraft wrapping paper because it won’t distract from the decorations and ribbons you use to decorate it. It gives a unique, vintage, and personalized look which I love.

Unique bows and ribbons – get creative here – you don’t need to stick to the Christmas section to find beautiful bows and ribbons. Wanna know how creative you can get with it? You can use anything from twine, to rope, to velvet, to lace, to even shoe laces (crazy, I know, but it’s actually super cute)!
